Privacy & your data
ShaadiReply is a free wedding attendance pilot. We keep the information needed to help your host collect replies, without guest accounts or automatic messages.
What we store
For a wedding: its title, date, optional venue and creation time. For a reply: the name you enter, whether you’re attending and when you last updated it. We don’t ask for phone numbers, email addresses or household size.
Who can see it
Anyone with the guest link can see the wedding details and submit a reply, but not the guest list. Anyone with the private management link can see every reply, export it, close replies or delete the wedding. ShaadiReply operators can access stored data to run the pilot and address problems.
Keep the private link safe
The management link is the host’s access key. We store a hash of the key, not the original. There is no account or link recovery in this pilot. Don’t share your management link in an invitation, and don’t put private information in the wedding title or venue.
Changing a guest reply
Your browser stores a random reply key and your last name and attendance choice locally so you can update from that browser. This isn’t a tracking cookie. Clearing browser storage or changing devices loses that update access and may create a second reply. We don’t verify guest identities; names aren’t a reliable way to match people.
Closing and deleting
Hosts can stop new replies and updates, or delete their wedding and all associated guest replies permanently. If you’re a guest who wants a reply removed, contact your host. Data stays stored until the host deletes it; this pilot has no automatic retention schedule.
Feedback and measurement
Host feedback is visible only to ShaadiReply. It’s stored separately and remains after wedding deletion so we can learn from the pilot. Please don’t include guest details or private links. We also retain daily aggregate counts of weddings created, weddings receiving their first reply, and reply saves including updates. These totals contain no guest names. Demo activity is not included.
Basic abuse protection
We temporarily store hashed network-address counters for rate limiting, not raw addresses. Shared networks may reach a limit together. We use no advertising analytics or automatic WhatsApp sending. Your WhatsApp app opens only when you choose it; WhatsApp’s own privacy terms then apply.
